Vista Verde Lodge

The Vista Verde Lodge is located in San Gerardo, some 6 miles (9 km) from the town of Santa Elena. The hotel’s property — which stretches over 250 acres  — offers spectacular views of Arenal Volcano and Arenal Lake, and has several hiking trails winding through its private cloud forest.

It’s no secret that most travelers come to Monteverde to visit the spectacular cloud forest reserves. These reserves host over 400 species of birds, 100 species of mammals and 2,500 species of plants. Trails wind through the forests, providing visitors with the chance to spot a number of exotic creatures, including monkeys, sloths, three-wattled bellbirds, and more.

Canopy tours and horseback rides are popular, as are visits to the cheese factory and coffee plantations.

When the weather is clear, you will be able to enjoy unrivaled views of the Arenal Volcano and Lake Arenal from the hotel’s property. A favorite amongst nature buffs, the lodge also hosts three private trails that wind through its lush cloud forest; you won't need to leave the lodge to become immersed in Monteverde’s spectacular environment.
